SUMMARY:Ocean of Her Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Ocean of Her is the newest body of work by artist and art psych
otherapist Jessica Kirkpatrick. Supported by the RSA Blackadder Travel Awa
rd\, this work in part responds to an immersive journey to Teotihuacan\, M
exico\, where she engaged in sacred site work and Toltec practices. This e
xhibition marks a threshold moment in Kirkpatrick’s practice—where her
identities as artist\, healer\, and facilitator converge.\nThe paintings
and drawings reflect a shift in her approach to art-making: embracing the
kinaesthetic\, haptic\, and psychic dimensions of the canvas. Rather than
pursuing aesthetic perfection or technical mastery\, Kirkpatrick works thr
ough process\, presence\, and emotional truth. Each brush mark becomes an
act of devotion—a tactile anchor into attentive awareness. The canvas fu
nctions not only as a surface for images but as a psychic frame in which s
ensation\, \nmemory\, and intuition can unfold.\nOcean of Her—is the vas
t\, generative force of feminine creativity. This ocean holds the full spe
 ctrum of experience: joy\, rage\, grief\, sensuality\, tenderness\, and ec
stasy. Historically\, such emotional and intuitive intelligence has often
been suppressed or dismissed. Through painting\, Kirkpatrick reclaims thes
e energies\, allowing them to flow freely in raw\, expressive forms. Imper
fection is welcomed as the gold of humanity\, creating space for complexit
y and authenticity.\n\nKirkpatrick is expanding her practice to offer ther
apeutic and creative services that use art-making as a pathway toward heal
ing\, self-understanding\, and community connection. The participatory rel
ational experience accompanying the exhibition offers a glimpse into this
approach—inviting visitors to understanding art not simply as something
to observe\, but as a living process that can support expression\, reflect
ion\, and transformation.\n\nIn a world increasingly fractured by conflict
 \, oppression\, ecological grief and collective trauma\, Kirkpatrick’s w
ork seeks to cultivate tenderness\, care\, and authenticity. Drawing on an
cestral wisdom\, ritual\, and embodied creative practice\, Ocean of Her in
vites viewers to pause\, feel\, and reconnect with the vast tidal intellig
ence of the creative psyche.\nUltimately\, the exhibition is both a person
al offering and a communal invitation: to witness\, to participate\, and t
o remember the deep currents of imagination\, intuition\, and emotional li
fe that flow within us all.
