SUMMARY:Ocean of Her Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Ocean of Her is the newest body of work by artist and art psych
otherapist Jessica Kirkpatrick. Supported by the RSA Blackadder Travel Awa
rd\, this work in part responds to an immersive journey to Teotihuacan\, M
exico\, where she engaged in sacred site work and Toltec practices. This e
xhibition marks a threshold moment in Kirkpatrick’s practice—where her
identities as artist\, healer\, and facilitator converge.\n\nThe painting
s and drawings reflect a shift in her approach to art-making: embracing th
e kinaesthetic\, haptic\, and psychic dimensions of the canvas. Rather tha
n pursuing aesthetic perfection or technical mastery\, Kirkpatrick works t
hrough process\, presence\, and emotional truth. Each brush mark becomes a
n act of devotion—a tactile anchor into attentive awareness. The canvas
functions not only as a surface for images but as a psychic frame in which
  sensation\, \nmemory\, and intuition can unfold.\nOcean of Her—is the v
ast\, generative force of feminine creativity. This ocean holds the full s
 pectrum of experience: joy\, rage\, grief\, sensuality\, tenderness\, and
ecstasy. Historically\, such emotional and intuitive intelligence has ofte
n been suppressed or dismissed. Through painting\, Kirkpatrick reclaims th
ese energies\, allowing them to flow freely in raw\, expressive forms. Imp
erfection is welcomed as the gold of humanity\, creating space for complex
ity and authenticity.\n\nKirkpatrick is expanding her practice to offer th
erapeutic and creative services that use art-making as a pathway toward he
aling\, self-understanding\, and community connection. The participatory r
elational experience accompanying the exhibition offers a glimpse into thi
s approach—inviting visitors to understanding art not simply as somethin
g to observe\, but as a living process that can support expression\, refle
ction\, and transformation.\n\nIn a world increasingly fractured by confli
 ct\, oppression\, ecological grief and collective trauma\, Kirkpatrick’s
work seeks to cultivate tenderness\, care\, and authenticity. Drawing on
ancestral wisdom\, ritual\, and embodied creative practice\, Ocean of Her
invites viewers to pause\, feel\, and reconnect with the vast tidal intell
igence of the creative psyche.\n\nUltimately\, the exhibition is both a pe
rsonal offering and a communal invitation: to witness\, to participate\, a
nd to remember the deep currents of imagination\, intuition\, and emotiona
l life that flow within us all.
