Photography work placements in SMH

Starting from tomorrow, We will have two third year Napier photography students coming into the building for 3-4 months to take photos of events and you and your studios! Here are their introductions so you can get to know them both.

Hi I’m Rachel, a third year photography student, here on placement. I’ll be around the building helping out and taking photos of the events taking place. I’m very keen to learn about art curation and would love to meet and work with people in the building 🙂

My photography instagram is @rchldwknss and my art one is @soulchokes

Thank you,

Rachel

Hi I’m Fraser and I’m a 3rd year photography student who’s here on placement. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be popping around all the studios and businesses in the building to complete a documentary project about St Margaret’s House.

Practically, this means that I’ll be popping in for about 10-20 minutes to get to know you and the amazing work that you do. Whilst doing this, I’ll get some shots of your work, your studio space and take a few portraits. Any images I capture will also be available for you to use in whatever way you wish.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and getting the opportunity to see all the work you do 🙂

If you want to talk about anything, feel free to send me an email at Flynn.fraser@icloud.com.

Feldenkrais® Studio Edinburgh – Alan Caig Wilson Studio 6.27

Feldenkrais® Studio Edinburgh – Alan Caig Wilson Studio 6.27

The Feldenkrais Method® is an innovative way of learning more about your body, experiencing greater ease, calm and comfort in your everyday life and developing resilience and adaptability. In addition is used by artists of all kinds to develop their work – streamlining their thinking and practice through exploring their movement. You don’t need any kind of movement expertise – all the movements are guided. Everyone is welcome. Everyone gets something out of it.

Cath Sinclair, a visual artist from East Lothian writes – In my Artistic practice I think it definitely helped with focus and also experimentation. I like to think I’m always looking for a new way of drawing or working, and so if anything I think Feldenkrais has reminded me to keep working this way and to perhaps try new simpler ways of working with pen, paint and paper.

I cannot recommend Alan’s classes highly enough and recommend anyone who is feeling stuck in their body to give Feldenkrais a try.

Classes take place in Studio 6.02 every Weds 10.30am – 12 noon (running until Easter). And online every Tuesday evening.

Individual, hands-on one-to-one lessons, called Functional Integration®, are available by appointment.

Rates for Scot-Art members:

Single group class £10, parcel of four £35.

Edinburgh Palette: Rebrand

Over the past few months, Edinburgh Palette has begun to grow outwith Edinburgh, taking on properties in other Scottish cities. Due to this expansion, we feel it’s best to have our name grow with us. Starting this morning, we have started our rebrand from Edinburgh Palette to Scotland’s ART (Scot ART). With ART standing for Artistic Regeneration and Transformation.

This change was carefully considered by the same trusted team behind Edinburgh Palette, and we look to ensure the quality of support and standard of service will not be impacted by this. We truly believe this change is a natural progression that best represents our growth as a charity.

For more information on the reasoning behind this rebrand and what changes will be made, please visit the article on the home page of our website.

Thank you for all your continued patience and support.
