Edinburgh Judo’s Sarah Adlington had the honour of carrying the King’s Baton during the Opening Ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Sarah trains at Edinburgh Judo, which is based at St Margaret’s House, and represented Scotland as part of the memorable ceremony at Glasgow’s Hydro.
The Opening Ceremony marked the arrival of all 74 Commonwealth Batons and officially opened the Glasgow 2026 Games.
We are delighted to see a member of the St Margaret’s House community involved in such a special sporting occasion.
Sarah Adlington is a two-time Commonwealth Games judo gold medallist and is part of Team Scotland’s Glasgow 2026 judo squad. The Opening Ceremony took place at The Hydro on 23 July and featured the arrival of all 74 Commonwealth Batons.
