Edinburgh Strength Collective, alongside Strong4All, is launching Base Camp, a free strength and fitness course for young people, intending on running a pilot during the Easter Holidays 2026.
The course introduces the basics of strength training in a safe, supportive environment. It will be led by a qualified children’s coach, and supported by experienced strength coaches. We hope to provide two sessions per week over two weeks, for a total of up to four sessions, each lasting around 1.5–2 hours.
The main goals of Base Camp are to:
- Teach young people how to move well and train safely
- Introduce proper lifting techniques in an age-appropriate way
- Build confidence when exercising, training, or using a gym space
- Encourage a healthier outlook on exercise and body image, focusing on function rather than appearance
- Develop skills beyond sport and school, including teamwork, communication, leadership and problem-solving
The course is free to attend and suitable for beginners. No previous gym or strength training experience is needed.
If you’re interested, please complete the registration of interest form below. We’ll use responses to shape the final programme and welcome your feedback.

Hi I’m Rachel, a third year photography student, here on placement. I’ll be around the building helping out and taking photos of the events taking place. I’m very keen to learn about art curation and would love to meet and work with people in the building 🙂
Hi I’m Fraser and I’m a 3rd year photography student who’s here on placement. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be popping around all the studios and businesses in the building to complete a documentary project about St Margaret’s House.
