Wanderlust Exhibition

Wanderlust
An Exhibition of Analogue Photography & Art Made in New York12-21 June 2026 at Scot-Art
By Mira Knoche

In this exhibition, Mira Knoche presents a selection of hand-developed
black and white photography, bringing together images from her recent
year-long stay in Spanish Harlem (El Barrio), New York, and processing
her journey between NYC and Edinburgh.

Wanderlust (a German Romantic term for the joy of wandering round the
world) also includes a selection of paintings and etchings, created during
her studies at the New York Academy of Art, often with a focus on
women’s transgressive kinship. At a time of accelerated global tension,
the show aims for a slowed down way of looking and for people of
different cultures connecting.

Mira Knoche (b.1984 in Germany) is an Edinburgh based Artist. She
graduated from the Glasgow School of Art (BFA in Painting & Printmaking)
and studied at the New York Academy of Art (MFA in Painting, Sculpture
and Printmaking programme) as a Fulbright scholar in 2024-25. She
currently has a project space at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.

Creative Retreats in the Scottish Borders

Early bird Discount for September retreat until end May 2024 and first retreat special price for the May retreat – 450 shared accommodation/600 single room residential.

During the last three years, I have been spending time in the Borders, walking, writing, drawing, taking photographs, foraging, reflecting, practising in the woods. It is another special place in Scotland. It gave me the chance to reconnect deeply with my creative soul and play, explore, be curious, inspired. I would like to share with you ways of reconnect/ connect with your creative soul, or simply nourish it and go back refreshed. We will explore; walk, observe; take photos; write; draw; make home remedies. As much or as little of it all. Have interesting conversations. We may notice what grows and what one may be drawn to make from it, or how one is inspired to connect to what is in the surroundings, playing with responding spontaneously to what calls us to tune into our inspiration, intuition, and imagination from whichever direction it may come. You may join in all the suggested activities, suggest others, or simply use the time and space to explore, rest, have interesting conversations or something else. What nourishes us? How do we feel inspired? There are lovely walks around the area, or if you wish you can sit by the fire in the beautiful home. I I will be happy to suggest/join in walks in the local area.
Vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. We cook together, recipes and ingredients are provided.
The retreat is in a beautiful eco house up a farm track, which offers a modern and spacious venue for this. Accommodation is in comfortable rooms, one has a double bed, two have beds that can be set up as a Twin room or as a double bed. There is max 5 spaces in the house, and 4 more people can join, if renting your own accommodation elsewhere.
There will be breathwork and meditation sessions early morning and evening, and if the weather is on our side, yoga outside on the beautiful lawn may be possible.
Arrival is on Monday from 4 pm and departure Friday morning by 10 am.
The minimum number to go ahead is 3, in case three of you wish a single room.
Single room can be booked here. Please contact me on annamaria@bodysymphonies.co.uk for shared room 🙂
