The Peg, a new shop and gallery space on 50 St Mary’s Street, Edinburgh are looking for crafters to run workshops at their premises in December. We already have a Christmas wreath making workshop set up for the 2nd December and are keen to set up a few more eg., christmas card making, lampshade making, christmas ornaments or gift making etc.

I started Wild Cat Crafts in 2014 following redundancy after 20 years as a property manager. I have had great fun and learnt a great deal by trying a variety of crafts over the last 5 years.
You definitely need to diversify when you run your own craft business, so this year I have decided to focus on weaving and quilting with some enamelling on copper and a bit of woodturning when time allows. That’s still quite a mixture, but I suspect that once I have invested in a new floor loom later this year, weaving will take priority!
I use upcycled materials in my weaving (yarn made from sari silk is a particular favourite at the moment), quilting (I’ve just finished two quilts using denim jeans) and woodturning (offcuts of plywood glued together create beautiful “grain” once they’re turned). I also run knitting and crochet workshops in my lovely studio at St Margaret’s House.

Twitter Art Exhibit is an annual art exhibition that has taken place in locations all around the world from Norway to Australia. Every year over 1,000 global artists each donate a postcard-sized work of art, which is sold at exhibition and online to raise funds for a chosen charity. So far over £50,000 has been raised for various charitable organisations, such as Foster Pride in New York and Pegasus Riding for the Disabled in Canberra. As its 
name suggests, the social media platform Twitter is central to the event, spreading awareness and making connections across the world. We are excited to announce that in May 2019 Twitter Art Exhibit (TAE19) is coming to Scotland for the first time, and its charity beneficiary will be Art in Healthcare!
TAE19 will be curated by artist Sam Bannister with support from artist Trevor Jones and 
sponsorship from art materials supplier Great Art. Opening night will be 11 May 2019 at Out of the Blue, Edinburgh. The exhibition will run through the weekend, online sales continuing afterwards. Submission to the exhibition is open to all, with one artwork accepted per person. Entries must be original works, 12 x 16cm in size, created using any 2D art media. Is this class for me?
This workshop is for you if you have never knitted before or if you just need a wee refresher! The workshop will run with a maximum of 4 people to allow you to learn at your own pace in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
When is the class?
It will run on all Mondays in the month (4th, 11th, 18th and 25th March) from 2pm to 4:30pm, so you’ll have a total of 10 hours of tuition.
What will I learn?
We’ll cover
– casting on and casting off
– knit and purl stitches
– how to combine knit and purl stitches to create lovely fabrics, including cable and lace
– how to increases and decrease
– how to join a new ball or colour
– how to decipher basic knitting patterns
– tips to make (knitting) life easier and some troubleshooting if things don’t go to plan!
What do I need to bring?
NOTHING! A pair of 4mm knitting needles and a ball of yarn are included in the price. As are notes to take home with you and tea/coffee and biscuits during the workshop!
